McKay Makes the Move to Wellington with Permanent Branch
October 07, 2022
NZ-owned electrotechnology company McKay has further expanded across the North Island with the establishment of a Wellington branch. This is McKay’s 12th branch in New Zealand and comes following the successful delivery of several Wellington-based projects, including the Ika Rere electric ferry.
With a new branch manager on board and some locally based infrastructure projects underway, McKay is already delivering work in the region following on from the completion of Ika Rere. The team began working locally on the fully electric vessel in 2020 and recognised multiple other opportunities in their core markets in the region.
As work requests have been coming in from some of McKay’s national infrastructure clients, McKay made the decision to set up the Wellington branch midway through 2022. The lease for the new property has been signed and the Wellington team will be moving into the space in Lower Hutt in October.
“We are looking forward to being able to deliver electrical services in the Wellington region. With experience in the infrastructure, water and construction space, our team will be able to support a diverse range of clients. We currently have a small team of talented electricians and linesmen in Wellington and are looking to leverage McKay’s national resources to expand over the coming year” says Richard Flannigan, Wellington Branch Manager.
Richard joins McKay with over 30 years’ experience in the building services and construction sector and is being supported by the McKay leadership team.
Managing Director at McKay, Lindsay Faithfull, said “We’ve seen some great opportunities arise in the Wellington region over the last couple of years and are eager to support new and existing clients in the lower North Island. Wellington is a rich and diverse place with some promising growth in infrastructure and major developments. We are looking forward to being part of Wellington’s continued development.”
Businesses and councils seeking electrical and engineering support can contact McKay’s Wellington branch at 21 Regent Street Petone Lower Hutt by emailing richard.flannigan@mckay.co.nz or calling +64 272 501 384.
