McKay Secures Second South Island LED Streetlighting Project

Building on the success of our first South Island Streetlight LED upgrade project, which is currently underway with Queenstown Lakes District Council, McKay has successfully tendered and won the Clutha District Council Streetlight upgrade project.

This contract will see McKay installing approximately 1900 LED’s to the Clutha district of both pedestrian and vehicle category lighting. The aim will be to improve lighting efficiency with LED’s providing a longer lifespan, energy efficiency, high light quality and low maintenance requirements. This latest win reflects McKay’s growing presence as the leading streetlighting contractor in New Zealand, delivering both capital upgrades and long-term maintenance support services to both local councils and large blue-chip clients. Project teams are planned to begin works on site in early February and complete all works by June 2019.
